To foreign national guests of the Global Offshore Wind Summit – Japan 2022

① Current Status for Entry into Japan

Currently, foreign nationals who apply for new entry into Japan are regarded as those with “special exceptional circumstances” and are allowed for new entry into Japan in principle, if the receiving organizations located in Japan complete prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS).
Below (1) applies to foreign national guests of GOWS.

  • (1)Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay (up to 90 days) for purposes including business and employment
  • (2)Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay for tourism (only when a travel agency among others organizing the trip serves as the receiving organization of the entrants)
  • (3)Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a long-term stay.
    In addition, all foreign nationals trying to newly enter Japan must complete the following steps before traveling to Japan.

Since all foreign nationals trying to newly enter Japan must apply for a visa, the length of time from visa application to visa issuance may take longer than usual. Therefore, if you are planning to participate in the event, please start your visa application process early.

② Required items to newly enter Japan

  • Registration in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) (Registration in AMARYS is necessary when JWPA is the receiving organization) ⇒ STEP 1
  • Valid visa or Residence Card of Japan⇒ STEP 2
  • Preparation for the “Fast Track” system (MySOS app) ⇒ STEP 6
  • Certificate of a negative test result from a pre-departure COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the country/region where the traveler stays (Vaccinated travelers also require this certificate).   • Valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (according to the country/region or quarantine requirements)⇒ STEP 3

③ Process for Entry into Japan

[Required for ALL] STEP 1: Application in ERFS and a Certificate for Completion of Registration in the ERFS System

Question: Do you have a receiving organization in Japan (e.g., Japan branch of your company)? (Please check with your company’s Japan branch)

[When you have a receiving organization]

Following registration in the ERFS by your receiving organization, please obtain a Certificate for Completion of Registration in the ERFS System from your receiving organization and proceed to STEP 2.

[When you do not have a receiving organization]

The event organizer, Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA), will be your receiving organization, and JTB Corp. Akita Branch will register you on behalf of JWPA.
Please enter the necessary items in the following URL and obtain a Certificate for Completion of Registration in the ERFS System.

Please prepare your passport and accommodation information.

[Required for ALL] STEP 2: Visa Acquisition

Please apply for a visa at your local Japanese consulate or embassy. The visa type is short-term stay for business purposes.
Please confirm the necessary documents for your visa application with your local Japanese consulate or embassy. Please present your Certificate for Completion of Registration in the ERFS system during your application.

[Required for Some Foreign National Guests] STEP 3: Preparation for a valid COVID-19

vaccination certificate
This certificate is necessary if you are traveling through or from countries or regions that belong to the “Red” or “Yellow” category designated by the Government of Japan.

Please book your flight for the day on your own.

[Required for ALL] STEP 5: Certificate of a negative test result from a pre-departure COVID-19 test

result to the quarantine station when entering Japan.
Date of test: Within 72 hours prior to departure

[Required for ALL] STEP 6: Registration in the SOS app, etc.

  • (1) Download and install the MySOS app (app for monitoring the health and locations of entrants).
  • (2) Answer the questionnaire, fill in the Written Pledge, register your valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate and negative test result certificate from your pre-departure COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure in MySOS, and complete the pre-registration in MySOS at least six hours before the scheduled arrival time of your flight.   • (3) Please use the Visit Japan web service (web service that visitors can use for quarantine, immigration, and customs procedures to enter Japan).

[Required for ALL] STEP 8: Presentation of your MySOS screen when entering Japan

Please show the quarantine officer your MySOS app screen after logging in when you arrive.
When the screen is green or blue, just show the screen.
When the screen is yellow, show the screen and present your negative test result certificate from your pre-departure COVID-19 test that was taken within 72 hours prior to departure. hours prior to departure.

[Required for ALL] STEP 9: Health check and health condition reporting after entering Japan

Please report your health condition to your receiving organization every day.
When JWPA is your receiving organization, please report your health condition every day from here (AMARYS page).
When JWPA is not your receiving organization, please report your health condition according to instructions from the receiving organization.

  • ● Please wear a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  • ● Be sure to disinfect and wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
  • ● Please avoid the Three C’s (closed spaces, crowded places, close-contact settings).
  • ● If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please call the local health consultation center immediately and provide information on your movements at that time. Then, please visit a specified medical institution.
  • ● If you test positive for COVID-19 after entering Japan, please cooperate with the active epidemiological investigation conducted by the Public Health Center, etc., based on Article 15 of the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases.

Basic measures to prevent the spread of infection
